Khairusman, it's my name. It was given by my parents. I was born on June 3 rd, 1970 in Ludai. It’s a village which is located in isolated area. It’s near to West Sumatera. It’s in Kampar Kiri Hulu Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. Until now there’s no roadway, telecommunication tools, and Junior High School in my hometown. My villager’s transportations are speed boats. If it’s in the summer season the people very difficult to use this transportation because the river is very shallow, some of passengers should get out from the boat and pulled it out together. When it’s in the wet season, it’s always floods, and the boat had to face the waves of the river, sometimes the boat sunk to the river because of many loads of the boat and big waves.
When I was a childhood, I didn’t go to Kindergarten, because there was no Kindergarten in my village up to now. In 1978, my parents sent me to Elementary school when I was 8 years old, one year later than the other children did. Because I had to help my step father to work in the garden ( tapping of rubber) where the most of my villagers’ work such as that.
I studied at the Elementary School during seven years, I failed at the first year, because of helping my father working in the field and I studied only six months of the year. In a week, I just studied three days , the rest I had to help my father to work in the garden which the distance from my village about two hours by small boat. If I helped my father, I should get up early in the morning . It was at 4:00 o’clock, and we arrived at our work at seven o’clock.
I graduated from Elementary School in 1985, when I was 15 years old. After graduating from the Elementary School, my step father was sick as long as a year, so I was the only hope of my family in making money. A year after that, I told my parents that I would like to continue my study to Islamic Junior High School in Lipatkain. It’s about one day journey by boat from my village.
I studied there for three years, after going home from school, I worked in the afternoon by tapping of rubber and in the evening I taught Al-Qur’an at the mosque in Lipatkain. So, I could finance my school fee by myself without asking any money to my parents totally. Because I realized that my parents were very poor and couldn’t finance my school fee as a whole. When I was in the Islamic Junior High School, I liked English very much, if I was absent from school I wrote a letter to my English teacher by using English. I got the highest score for my pure values in the last examination of the school. When the headmaster announced that I was the first rank, I was very proud of myself at the time.
In 1989, I continued my study to State Islamic Teacher’s Training of Education of Pekanbaru or PGAN. When I was in Pekanbaru, I lived in a mosque, I worked as a call of prayer, gave preaching for women Islamic teachings club at the mosque, swept the mosque, teaching Al-Qur’an for kids, etc. Sometimes I studied English at a course to improve my vocabulary and grammar.
In 1992, I went to State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) of Pekanbaru for DII program. I got the highest score with yudicium Cum Laude. After finishing my study at DII program, I transferred my study to undergraduates program (S.1) with Islamic Education departement. I finished from there in 1999 with yudicium very satisfied. I ’ve ever followed the English-Arabic translation training for candidate of IAIN lecturer during three months in IAIN Pekanbaru. When I was in the institution, I also studied English with my English lecturer in his English Course on Jalan Selais, Tangkerang Barat Pekanbaru. It lasted for about two years, after studying I was also asked by my English lecturer, Mr. Drs. H. Abdullah Hasan, MSc, to teach English in his course especially in the afternoon during four years and teaching English for several Elementary Schools as a local content in Pekanbaru.
In year 2000, I went home to Lipatkain, and I set up the English course by my self there until right now. Because in Lipatkain, there was no English course at the time. In 2001, I set up a Private Senior High School together with my friends. I was the chairman of the committee. We called it Madrasah Aliyah Swasta (MAS) Lipatkain or The Private Islamic Senior High School. I have ever been an English teacher for beginning of the school opened.
On December year 2003, Ministry of Religious Affairs of Republic of Indonesia legalized that the Private Islamic Senior High School of Lipatkain (MAS) became the State Islamic Senior High School of Lipatkain (MAN) .
In year 2004, I followed a pulic servant tobe test , praise be to Allah Lord of the world, I passed in the examination. And then, I was appointed to be a public servant or to be an Islamic religious teacher of MAN Lipatkain. So, right now I am a teacher of MAN Lipatkain. My wife’s also a public servant or a teacher of the State Senior High School (SMAN) of Kamparkiri in Lipatkain. It’s about 70 kms from Pekanbaru. Right now, I have one daughter and two sons . My daughter is 5 yaers, and sons three years and two months.
Besides teaching at the school and at the course I also the member of some organizations such as the chairman of Institution of Reading Al-Qur’an Development of Kamparkiri Sub-distric. And the chairman of the Council of Muslim Religius Leader of Indonesia of Kamparkiri Subdistric. And then I also participate in giving preaching from mosque to mosque and become a leader of prayer on Friday. Since academic year 2007-2008 I was registered as a post graduate student of UIN SUSKA Riau for executive class, with Islamic Education Management majoring. In year 2010, I finished my study from there.
I think that’s all a glance of myself.
